Overpayment Recovery Process

If you identify that an overpayment has been made to you in your wages, you must immediately notify your Account Manager or the Zen Support Team at 213-516-6054 or email . In a similar way, if our internal processes or a school identifies an overpayment, we will contact you to start the overpayment recovery process.

If an overpayment is made for any reason, arrangements will be made to recover the overpayment. Zen will ensure the process is conducted fairly and in compliance with applicable laws.

Overpayments will typically be recovered through lump-sum payment. In the event that an overpayment was not immediately identified and has been spent by the educator in good faith, Zen will work with you to establish a mutually agreed repayment plan.

In the latter case, the Repayment Plan will be subject to the following guidelines, as required by state law:

  1. Written Agreement: Recovery of overpayments via a repayment plan will only proceed after obtaining your written authorization. This agreement will specify the amount to be repaid and the terms of repayment.
  2. Avoiding Hardship: The repayment plan timeline will be structured to avoid undue financial hardship wherever possible, typically through a deferred repayment schedule.
  3. Compliance with Wage Laws: Recovery of overpayments will not reduce your wages below the minimum wage required by federal or state law, nor will it violate any other applicable wage and hour laws.

If you have questions or concerns about the overpayment recovery process, please contact your Account Manager or the Zen Support Team at 213-516-6054 or email help@zeneducate.com.
