Payment of Wages

Employees will be paid weekly on the Friday following the week of work, by 5pm in their local timezone.

Payment is by direct deposit or by check - we strongly recommend direct deposit so that you get your funds sooner; however, educators who wish to be paid via check will be able to select this option when onboarding into our payroll providers.

If a company-recognized holiday occurs on a Friday, educators should expect to be paid on the preceding Thursday.

Employees who enjoy the benefit of electronic direct deposit will receive a statement containing Direct Deposit Advice on each payday, which may be accessed through Gusto https://gusto.com, our payroll partner.

Onboarding into Gusto, our Payroll Provider

Payroll is handled by the Gusto payroll platform. In your first week of work, you will be sent an email from Gusto explaining how to onboard into the payroll platform. Please urgently complete the onboarding steps; failure to do so may result in delayed payments.

You will be asked to provide personal, banking, and tax information for Gusto. Please complete this form as quickly as possible, ideally the day you receive the invite, to ensure your first paycheck is on time.

If you have any questions about onboarding into Gusto, please promptly reach out to the Zen Support Team at 213-516-6054 or help@zeneducate.com.

Paycheck Deductions

Zen is required by federal and some state laws to make certain deductions from your paycheck each pay period. Deductions may include federal, state and local taxes, Social Security, and Medicare. Depending on the state in which you are employed and the benefits you choose, additional deductions may occur.

Some educators may be subject to additional deductions. Such deductions will be made in accordance with state and federal law and will require written authorization from the employee.

The amount of all deductions will be listed on the employee’s pay stub.

If you have any questions regarding deductions, please promptly reach out to the Zen Support Team at 213-516-6054 or help@zeneducate.com.

Reporting Errors in Pay

If any employee has questions about deductions from their pay, believes they have been subjected to improper deductions, or believes that the amount paid does not accurately reflect the employee’s total hours worked or salary, that employee should promptly contact their Account Manager or the Zen Support Team at 213-516-6054 or email help@zeneducate.com.

Every report will be fully investigated, and Zen will provide the employee with any compensation to which the employee is entitled in a timely fashion

Zen complies with all applicable laws, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, and will not allow any form of retaliation against individuals who make good faith reports of alleged violations of this policy, or who cooperate in an investigation by Zen, even if the reports do not reveal any errors or wrongdoing.
