🚨US Absence Policy

Unexplained absences and being late can create understaffing situations in classrooms that could put children at risk, and which put a strain on other staff members. Even a single unexplained absence could result in early end to a specific job; reduced access to future jobs; or termination.

  • Always notify the company of an absence via the Zen app at least 24 hours in advance by marking “absent” on the app.
  • Employees who need to leave early must notify their Zen Account Manager either via SMS, phone call or email, as well as their school site.
  • An attendance rate less than 95% attendance in the first 2 weeks may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment and/or removal from assignment and from the Zen platform, unless the absence or tardiness is excused or approved.

🎯 Exceptions

The following are examples of types of time off that will not be considered grounds for disciplinary action under this policy:

  • Time off that was previously approved;
  • Paid sick and safe time or mandatory leave provided under federal, state or local law;
  • Approved state and federal leaves of absence, including but not limited to jury duty leave, military leave, leave protected under the Family and Medical Leave Act or similar state laws, and time off or leave specifically approved by the Company as an accommodation under applicable law; and/or
  • Time off due to a work-related injury that is covered by workers’ compensation.
