Snow Days and other Emergency School Closures

Schools sometimes close on short notice due to inclement weather or natural disasters. For example, schools may close because of a snow storm or because of a forest fire in the region. It is important that Zen Educators monitor local weather alerts, local news, social media of the school and school district, and Zen communication channels including the in-app messaging feed, text messages and emails to receive information on school closures.

If your school is closed, you should remain at home and you will not work your shift. Educators in states other than California will not be compensated for days cancelled due to a weather or another emergency.

Educators in California who were notified of a cancellation prior to the start of the shift and prior to their departure from home for their commute to the school, will not be compensated for cancelled days.

Educators in California who were not notified of the cancellation prior to their departure from home for their commute to the school, in some circumstances may be entitled to between 2-4 hours worth of pay. In these situations, please speak with your Account Manager or the Zen Support Team at 213-516-6054 or email help@zeneducate.com.
