Work Schedules and Recording Hours
Your Schedule
Your work schedule, including times (starting time, ending time, meal and other rest breaks) and locations of work, is dependent on your School assignment. Your initial schedule will be displayed in the Zen app, and may also be communicated to you by your Account Manager, School Administrator, or Classroom Teacher.
All employees are expected to be at their designated work area at the start of their scheduled shift, ready to perform their work.
Employees are required to take meal and rest periods where required by law. Zen complies with federal and state laws in this regard. If an employee believes they are not being permitted to take meal or rest periods required by applicable law, the employee should immediately contact their Account Manager.
Changing hours of a shift
Staffing needs and operational demands may necessitate variations in starting and ending times, as well as variations in total hours that may be scheduled each day and week. If your hours do change, ensure you follow the guidelines below.
Educators must not work any time that is not authorized by their Account Manager or by their school admin at their placement school. This means Educators must not start work early, finish work late, work during a meal or rest break, or perform any other extra or overtime work unless requested by their Account Manager or School Administrator. Educators who have questions about when or how many hours they are expected to work should contact their Account Manager.
If your School Administrator requests that you work later than the end of your shift as agreed previously; and, if you are willing and able to work the extended hours, please ask the school leader to extend the time via the Zen Educate app; and, to ensure you get paid correctly, also notify your Account Manager.
If you are asked to finish your shift early by your Classroom Teacher, please then confirm this with your School Administrator before ending your shift.
If you are asked to finish your shift early by your School Administrator, please inform your Account Manager or the Zen Support Team at 213-516-6054 or
help@zeneducate.com.
Recording Hours
Many schools, especially those in California, will require you to sign in an out of your school site each day. This is both a safety related requirement, but will also be used to ensure accurate timesheets for the wage payment.
When employees receive their paychecks, they should verify immediately that their working time was recorded accurately and that they were paid correctly for all hours worked.
Zen or School employees should never encourage you to report incorrect hours, and you should never encourage another employee to report incorrect hours. If someone encourages you to report incorrect hours, please notify your Account Manager or the Zen Support Team at 213-516-6054 or
help@zeneducate.com.
It is a serious violation of Zen policy to deliberately misrepresent your hours worked. You must also not encourage another employee to incorrectly report their hours; or, to alter another’s hours. These behaviours could result in your termination.
