Meal and Rest Breaks
It is important you recharge to be at your best, to be a great educator for the children you serve. In many areas, it’s also the law to ensure you get sufficient meal and rest breaks. Please ensure you are able to take your allocated lunch and rest breaks. Your break scheduled will be communicated to you by your site Administrator or Supervisor; your classroom teacher; or your Account Manager
If your Classroom Teacher requests you work over your lunch or other breaks, try speaking with your School Administrator to ensure you get your breaks. If your School Administrator requests you work over your lunch or other breaks, please contact your Account Manager or the Zen Support Team at 213-516-6054 or email help@zeneducate.com.
Any rest breaks of short duration (lasting between five and 20 minutes) will be counted as “hours worked” and paid accordingly. Meal breaks lasting 30 minutes or more are not considered “hours worked” for purposes of federal law and will not be paid.
Educators must be completely relieved from work duties during any unpaid meal break. If you are asked to do work duties during your unpaid meal break, please contact your Account Manager or the Zen Support Team at 213-516-6054 or email help@zeneducate.com to ensure you get paid for the work completed.
Educators must record the beginning and ending time of their meal breaks each day on their time records.
