The No Cell Phone Policy

Using your cell phone while in the care of children is dangerous and irresponsible. It is also a leading reason for schools to give educators negative reviews on the Zen platform and to end placements early. You may not use your phone or any other personal electronic device when working a shift with Zen, with the exception of a serious emergency. Please keep your phone out of sight and in a do-not-disturb setting when working with students.

The No Cell Phone Policy also bans the use of your phone for work purposes when in the presence of students. You may not use your phone for work-related internet searches or other work-related tasks while working in the presence of students.

Employees may only use personal phone calls and communications and other use of personal electronic devices during nonworking time, including designated breaks and meal periods, and away from the presence of students. This on-site personal-time device usage, for example while in a teachers room during your unpaid lunch break, is still subject to school-site policies and must be professional. For example, you must not view or listen to loud, sexually inappropriate, or violent music, videos, or pictures while on unpaid break.

Failure to comply with this policy will result in disciplinary action. Disciplinary action may result in the early end to your placement; reduced access to future jobs with Zen; or termination from Zen.
